Garage floor coatings are designed for protection, durability, and appearance, but they are not made to level a floor. Polyaspartic and epoxy systems are thin-mil applications that follow the existing contours of the concrete.
Why Garage Floor Coatings Cannot Level Concrete
- They are not self-leveling compounds
- They are applied at only a few mils thick
- They cannot fill dips, slopes, or drainage channels
Self-leveling concrete is often not recommended under coatings because it can:
- Fail due to low adhesion
- Crack under freeze–thaw conditions
- Delaminate from the original slab
Are There Alternatives?
For major leveling concerns, we can discuss leveling solutions. It does come with a high cost to the project and cannot guarantee that everything will turn out perfectly level.
Leveling is usually unnecessary for garage applications.
