Gateways are by Chevo Studios of Denver
A nice little design exercise was a small but mighty sculpture that topped off a slick design by showcasing some clever engineering. The main feature is a sculpted quartzite boulder, complete with a carved diamond in the center. Other features include a bespoke lighting scheme, an interactive water table and a central plaza. During the day, visitors can enjoy the sun with an a la carte menu of snacks and beverages. At night, a special pavilion features a lighted sculpture and a plethora of interactive exhibits.
In addition to the main feature, Chevo Studios also constructed a number of smaller sculptures. Their most impressive creation is a large quartzite sphere that houses a smattering of cleverly fabricated artifacts. These include a custom engraved quartzite ‘gateway’ emblazoned with a ‘Kids in Motion’ logo, a metal banner displaying the aforementioned ‘Migrations’, and a miniature homage to the Rocky Mountains.
