1. Chemicals That Can Stain or Damage the Surface

Brake Fluid

Safe if wiped up quickly, but if left for hours or days, it can soften the topcoat.

Battery Acid

One of the most damaging substances. Acid can permanently etch or burn the coating.

Purple PVC Pipe Glue

Highly pigmented and can leave a permanent stain even if the coating isn’t structurally damaged.

Rust

Metal tools, appliances, or snowblowers can leave rust rings that stain the clear coat.

Spray Paint, Dyes, and Strong Pigments

Bright colors may discolor the clear coat if allowed to set.
